One of the biggest challenges related to the growth of 5G applications are the increasing restrictions for component design. One engineering requirement that is severely impacted is the physical size and smaller form factor needs. Component design engineers, particularly those focused on filter designs, are forced to spend a considerable amount of time and effort to determine a resonator layout that will meet the dimensional requirements. These restrictions can also add additional risks to the overall design workflow which can impact the overall RF performance, particularly the deterioration of the outband rejection, or the loss of power handling capabilities.
